“I’m an amateur rank fisherman and I caught a ton of fish, including a Master Angler pike. That’s what makes Aikens Lake so great, you can get guys like me that really don’t know what they’re doing, and you start to believe that you might.”

I’m an amateur rank fisherman and I caught a ton of fish, including a Master Angler pike. That’s what makes Aikens Lake so great, you can get guys like me that really don’t know what they’re doing, and you start to believe that you might.

Also, Pit and Julie are such real and genuine people. They’ve got a tremendous sense of hospitality. They make everybody feel welcome and a part of it. That’s where all the repeat guests come in. Their whole staff are so easy to be with, and hanging in the bar at night you meet other people and enjoy talking with them.

The shorelunches are spectacular, and I always enjoy the flight in and out because it’s such great scenery getting there. My first time at Aikens I had a wonderful time and I could hardly wait to go back, even though the weather was just terrible. This year, the weather was damn near perfect.

We have such a great time, it was an easy choice to go with Pit and Julie.

“My husband and my dad had always talked about going to Canada or Alaska, so when I got the idea to give them a fishing trip as a surprise gift I did about six months of research. Once I talked with Pit, I was sold. It was really a surprise to them. They were so excited, and they just had a wonderful time at Aikens. They enjoyed their dream trip, and I don’t think it will be their last time to Aikens.”

My husband and my dad had always talked about going to Canada or Alaska, so when I got the idea to give them a fishing trip as a surprise gift I did about six months of research. Once I talked with Pit, I was sold. I liked the all-inclusive package, too, so they had everything provided for them.

It was really a surprise to them. When they opened the brochures they said, ‘OK, what exactly is this?’They were so excited, and they just had a wonderful time at Aikens.

They enjoyed their dream trip, and I don’t think it will be their last time to Aikens.

“Pit and his team have done a wonderful job of putting together the perfect gem of an outpost camp. We love going to the Lost Lake outpost because it provides you the seclusion and serenity without comprising the nice luxury-type components. ”

— Scot Woolley,Minnetonka, Minnesota

Pit and his team have done a wonderful job of putting together the perfect gem of an outpost camp with all the amenities. We love going to the Lost Lake outpost because it provides you the seclusion and serenity without comprising the nice luxury-type components.

There are so many things you’d never expect at an outpost, such as a gourmet kitchen, beautiful docks, an ice machine, Sirius radio I’ve been on a lot of fly-in trips and generally speaking when someone says outpost camp, it fits the definition of an outpost. There’s an outdoor latrine, running water or electricity might be hit or miss, and you’re roughing it to a degree. Not at Lost Lake. Pit and the team have raised the bar.

This year they added a fish cleaning facility on Lost Lake so you could clean fish in an area protected from bugs or weather. Is it necessary? No, but they want to continue to raise the bar and that’s the neat thing. They solicit feedback from everyone who stays there and they listen because they really care about their guests.

“The Four Seasons of fishing lodges. What's truly impressive is that ownership is constantly improving the experience. Every year you arrive and notice improvements. I'm just back from our trip to Aikens with my son. In the last 15 months he's been to Copenhagen, Berlin, Estonia, St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Stockholm, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Venice, Croatia, Greece and Turkey – but said this was his favorite trip ever. He slept with his Aikens hat on last night!”

The Four Seasons of fishing lodges. What's truly impressive is that ownership is constantly improving the experience. Every year you arrive and notice improvements.

This year there is a great front porch - screened in - four the four cabins on Angler's Row. There is also a new dining room building for the staff. They are beginning to build a new boathouse near the water to store and repair boats. I notice new 70 HP motors on some boats to get you in and out of spots more quickly (more time with lines in the water = more fish). Every year is the same way - constant improvements.

Additionally - even though the staff is outstanding every year, this year was exceptional. We were greeted by 15 people or so when we stepped off the plane - hugged by some past staff, hands shaken welcoming to Aikens by new staff - everyone with a smile.

We're already signed up for next August - can't wait. My son has made the "Century Club" three years running and looks forward to attempting to keep his streak alive.

The fishing is fantastic. The guides are all amazing (shout out to you Jesse L.!). The lake structure is great, and everyone has a great time. My son caught a 28" walleye, being registered in Manitoba as a Master Angler. What a great bonding trip. I have a fishing buddy for life and can credit the entire operation at Aikens for doing such a fantastic job.

My favorite part is the fellowship and camaraderie of the entire group - led by Pit and Julie, Patrick and others - you can tell the entire team enjoys their time together and while they are very professional in serving the needs of its guests, they have a good time as well.
