This beautiful sunset is not a rare view at Aikens Lake | | Early morning lake view from the Great Gray Owl |
When the lodge was built in 1951, they weren't the first to have traveled through the area. Natives had been paddling these rivers for hundreds of years already. The lithographs on the left were discovered in 1995 by our friend Lorna Hiebert. Although we do not know their meaning, it is possible to make out some of the representations. There is a canoe full of people on the top, a person on the left holding hands with another that is now under the black lichen, and a wolf on the far right. If you are lucky enough, such as Marty Bisson on the right, you might find an arrowhead or spearhead.
If you have been to Aikens, and have a picture you would like to share with us to add to this, or any other page, please contact us. We would be more than happy to enhance our web site with your help. |
